Supporting Military Families And Celebrating Our Birthday With Heart!

February 13, 2026

Our very first meal-packing event took place on Valentine’s Day in 2014. From that day forward, we’ve been driven by a simple goal: finding meaningful ways to get food to families in need right here in our own communities. As we celebrate the birthday of Meals From The Heart, we’re honoring that commitment to serve by continuing our partnership with Beyond The Yellow Ribbon.

This Valentine’s season, we’re delivering groceries to 200 military families looking to stretch their food budgets a little further.

Over the past few weeks, volunteers from Meals From The Heart have been busy putting together food items and packing grocery bags with items specially chosen for this time of year. We’re even adding a fun Valentine’s Dinner recipe (and all the ingredients) to make a delicious Italian chicken and pasta dinner.

With grocery prices rising and inflation taking a bigger bite out of household budgets, many families are finding it harder to make ends meet. Military families are no exception. Between pay cycles, unexpected expenses, deployments, relocations, and the unique demands of military life, stretching a food budget can be a real challenge.

A few years ago, we teamed up with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon to help ease some of that burden. Since 2021, we’ve delivered more than 30 tons of groceries to military families. Through the Meals From The Heart food bag program, families receive a selection of familiar, high-quality grocery items at no cost, helping them stretch their food dollars while maintaining dignity and choice.

Minnesota’s Beyond The Yellow Ribbon is a community program, facilitated by the Minnesota National Guard. The program brings together community, county, and organizational resources to support service members, veterans, and military families.

As we celebrate another year of Meals From The Heart, we’re proud to keep showing up for families who serve our country – one grocery bag, one partnership, and one community at a time.
