Teeing Up for Minnesota’s Military Families

The annual Meals from the Heart Golf Tournament brought golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters together at White Eagle Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 20, all for a great cause – helping Minnesota military families facing food insecurity.

The tournament raises money for our Minnesota Hero Meals program, a partnership between Meals from the Heart and Beyond the Yellow Ribbon that provides grocery support to service members, veterans, and their families.

For the past five years, this partnership has helped put nutritious food on the tables of military families across Minnesota. Since 2021, more than 35 tons of groceries have been delivered to armories and bases throughout the state.

“This event is a great example of what can happen when a community comes together for a cause that matters,” said Stefanie Hurt, BTYR community outreach coordinator. “Every sponsor, golfer, volunteer, and supporter is helping make a real difference for Minnesota’s military families.”

The Hero Meals program provides grocery bags filled with everyday essentials and popular brands, helping families stretch their budgets and prepare nutritious meals.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who joined us on the course and helped make the tournament a success. We’re especially grateful to our presenting sponsor, GT Financial, along with all of the sponsors who continue to stand behind this important mission.

And to our volunteers, thank you for keeping everything moving, from the first tee to the final putt!

Together, we’re working toward this year’s goal of raising $75,000 to help stretch grocery budgets for 900 Minnesota military families experiencing food insecurity.

Why do we tee it up? Because no hero should have to worry about putting food on the table.
