Packing With A “Kick” at Hidden Pines Ranch.
Our annual packing expedition to Hidden Pines Ranch is one of our favorite events of the year! Eager smiles and helping hands greeted us when we arrived, ready to go to work and help their neighbors. Hidden Pines Ranch is a summer day camp in Stillwater, Minnesota, where school-age campers experience a wide range of activities, from riding horses to making music and even helping their neighbors by participating in team-building meal-packing events. (That’s where we come in.)
For the seventh year, our Meals From The Heart volunteers prepared the mini meal-packing factory and guided this energized bunch through multiple meal-packing stations on Tuesday, July 23rd, and Wednesday, July 24th.
And they weren’t just packing any meals. This year, they packed fortified Pizza Mac, our own macaroni and cheese recipe with a pepperoni pizza kick. And what kid doesn’t love macaroni and cheese, especially when it tastes like pizza?
Through two toasty days and several energized meal-packing sessions, the incredible campers from Hidden Pines Ranch packed over 25,000 meals that were delivered to local food shelves.
The Hidden Pines Ranch mission is to “build great kids by teaching skills for life.” From what we have experienced, these kids have already learned one of life’s most essential skills – working together to help our neighbors.
Thanks to the counselors and campers at Hidden Pines Ranch. We’re already looking forward to next year!
