Our Inaugural “Feed The Need” Fundraising Luncheon was a huge success!
Great things happen when good people get together. Our Inaugural “Feed The Need” Fundraising Luncheon was a huge success! For once, Meals From The Heart brought a room full of people together, and they didn’t pack meals! The inaugural Meals From The Heart “Feed The Need” fundraising luncheon was held at the Lake Elmo Inn Event Center.
On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, 140 people got together for lunch, and it’s amazing how much good can be done in only an hour. Aside from a good meal and great conversation, we took the opportunity to tell folks a little bit about the work we do here at Meals From The Heart and raise enough funds to pack OVER 75,000 meals – how’s that for a good lunch!
The highlight of the event was a talk by Jason DeRusha of WCCO-TV, our local CBS news affiliate. Jason shared stories from his career as a news reporter and anchor. He also shared his passion for helping to end hunger and food insecurity in Minnesota.
“People have this idea that it’s homeless kids who are hungry or that it’s literal starvation that we used to see TV commercials about, and that’s not it. It’s my neighbors, it’s kids who are going to my kids’ school.” – Jason DeRusha
Thanks to all who attended and donated to help food-insecure families right in our own communities. ALL of the meals packed using the funds raised at the luncheon will go to stock local food shelves. We’re already looking forward to our second annual event!
