Old National Bank Roadshow
Old National Bank in Minnesota wanted to celebrate its inaugural “Better Together Volunteer Days” with a huge meal-packing event. But with several locations around the state, it was virtually impossible to have one big, centralized event. So, we took the show on the road! Old National Bank’s “Better Together Volunteer Days” is an opportunity for bank employees to volunteer in the communities where they live and work.
In the spirit of keeping the volunteering in the communities, Meals From The Heart packed up their gear and created a three-day, five-location meal-packing roadshow. Their caravan of giving visited Montevideo, Apple Valley, Maple Grove, Waconia, and St. Paul. In just three incredible days, the energized team from Old National Bank worked together to pack over 130,000 meals. Plus, the meals were distributed by Meals From The Heart and Old National Bank employees directly to food shelves right in the neighborhoods in which they were packed.
The meals Old National packed over the three-day roadshow went to 20 local organizations: 360 Communities in Burnsville, Backpack Program in Minneapolis, Basic Needs of South Washington County in Cottage Grove, Big Lake Food Shelf, Bring it Home in Montevideo, Buffalo Food Shelf, CAPI USA in Brooklyn Center, Chippewa County Food Shelf in Montevideo, Cross Services in Rogers, ECHO Food Shelf in Mankato, Gather and Grow in Waconia, Hope Bridge Food Shelf in New Hope, Keystone Community Services in St. Paul, First Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Friends in Need in St. Paul Park, Lac Qui Parle County Food Shelf/Madison Food Shelf, Open Hands Midway in St. Paul, Prairie Five Community Action in Montevideo, Ruby’s Pantry, and VEAP in Bloomington.
Special thanks go to Julie Anderson and her amazing team from Old National Bank, who spear-headed and coordinated the community teams for this event – that was no small task!
Todd King of Meals From The Heart summed it up. “We are more than honored to work with Julie and the Old National Bank team in this inaugural event. Bottom line? These folks REALLY live the mission of local service for a local impact.”
Julie added to the Meals From The Heart volunteer crew, “…your energy, compassion, and deep commitment to respectfully providing food for those without enough in our communities are inspiring and beautiful. Thank you so much for your tireless enthusiasm in hosting the ONB team. When working with you, the answer was always “Yes!” and you figured out a way to get things done.”
