Going Global While Still Keeping It Local
Last summer, we helped facilitate our first meal packing event at one of Medtronic’s offices in the Netherlands. This European event was our first outside of the U.S. and it went very well! Thank you to the nice folks at Medtronic for sponsoring it and volunteering at the event, we were able to pack thousands of meals for local food shelves in the Netherlands area.
While the spoken language was different, the universal language of community and giving resonated loud and clear. We used our popular corporate “throwdown” meal-packing format and it went off without a hitch! Based at Medtronic’s BRC office, 253 people on 13 teams were able to pack 50,904 meals to help people in the Limburg area suffering from hunger. That means 800 families per week will now have access to these great meals!
With the help of the Salvation Army, we’re now distributing meals to local food shelves across the Netherlands.
This is a first for us at Meals From The Heart to truly be going global with a local impact, which is Medtronic’s mission regarding doing good for communities! We’re grateful to have had this opportunity and we look forward to doing good in more countries – this is just the start!
There were lots and lots of smiles
