Meals From The Heart partners with Medtronic to bring the theme of “Global Reach/Local Impact” to life.
A key part of Medtronic’s mission focuses on community service and partnership. They put a priority on setting aside time for their associates to serve their local communities. And this month, the local communities they served happened to be in the Netherlands – specifically, Kerkrade, Heerlen, Eindhoven, and Maastricht.
The team from Meals From The Heart and nearly 1,000 Medtronic associates enjoyed a wonderful week of service at four Medtronic facilities in Netherlands. Together we packed 192,504 non-GMO meals for local families.
And it was a blast!
We used our competitive “Corporate ThrowdownTM” meal-packing format and the teams really got into it. In fact, the Medtronic Heerlen SCP-LT Team led by Ginny T posted a meal-packing Throwdown world record of 5,298 meals.
And the local impact was just about as fast! The meals were distributed to local food shelves through a partnership with the Salvation Army-Netherlands.
Hunger as food insecurity is an issue around the world the impacts the youth in the Netherlands as 1 in 8 children arrive at school hungry. 38 % of those affected by hunger in the Netherlands are under the age of 18.
Every week 40,000 food relief boxes are distributed to families. And this month, our tasty Meals From The Heart meals helped fill the boxes.
Thanks to Medtronic and all of our new friends in the Netherlands for allowing us to help serve your local families. We are honored and thrilled to be part of this great event for the second year in a row. We’re already looking forward to next year.
