Medtronic, Mountains, And (Lots Of) Meals!

June 25, 2019

Now, this is how you kick off the summer packing season – with a little trip to the mountains. We even had a tent! We packed up the Meals From The Heart truck and headed to Louisville and Boulder, Colorado to pack meals from June 5-7 with Medtronic. The air may be a little thinner in Colorado, but hearts were full, hands were busy, and smiles were abundant! Between the two cities, 88 teams and 1,431 energized people packed nearly 340,000 meals! All the meals were donated to the local Community Food Share.

It takes quite a team to coordinate an event of this scale. Pictured here are Tom Thiets, Joe Capaul, Katrine Arnedo (Community Food Share’s Strategic Partnership Coordinator), Leah Casey (Medtronic Louisville team member), and Todd King. Other Meals From The Heart volunteers not pictured included Wayne Pepin, Chuck Newman, Lou Cristan, and Ken Hanson.

Thanks to the MDT coordinators at Boulder – Elizabeth Bailey and Stacy Parriott. In Louisville, Leah Casey led the charge. VP Bob Reddy is shown here sharing high-fives after his team packed the most meals all week – 5,142 meals!

The days were long with the first packing sessions beginning at 5:00 a.m. After packing up and shutting down on Thursday, we had a late dinner after begging a local tavern owner to reopen his grill for some night-time nourishment. The people in Colorado are so nice! We’re already looking forward to our next trip to the mountains!
