Medtronic Hits A High Note!

Earlier this summer a small army of Meals From The Heart volunteer team leaders traveled to three different Medtronic locations to facilitate their popular ThrowdownTM competitive meal-packing events. The locations included the Operational Headquarters in Minneapolis as well as the Rice Creek and Mounds View facilities. Every June, these events align with Medtronic’s Project 6 initiative, a global volunteerism effort in which all employees are encouraged to give back to the communities in which they live.

A key part of Medtronic’s mission focuses on community service and partnership, and they put a priority on setting aside time for their employees to serve their local communities. During the sessions, dozens of teams of smiling Medtronic employees packed over 375,000 meals for local food shelves. All of the meals packed were distributed in Minnesota and Wisconsin to 70 food outreach sites that serve 17,000 families every month.

In all, 1,780 Medtronic volunteers on 93 teams packed over 375,000 meals. Awesome work, Medtronic! That brings the total packed by Medtronic to over 3.3 million meals!
