A huge donation from SPAAR REALTORS® will help pack 250,000 meals for families in St. Paul.
Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) presented a check for $50,000 to Meals from the Heart – WOW! This fantastic donation, our largest single donation ever –will help fund our Second Annual Side-By-Side community meal-packing event that will take place in September.
The Side-By-Side event will involve churches of different denominations, a mosque, and many unaffiliated members within the St. Paul east side community that will come together over two days to pack meals that will help stock local food shelves. That will make a huge impact on local families in need.
“Many of SPAAR’s 7,000-plus REALTOR® members are active in volunteer and philanthropic efforts in the areas where they live and work, and we wanted to give back to an organization that makes an impact to the people in their community,” said Man Huynh, president of SPAAR. “We felt Meals from the Heart met the criteria as the kind of organization we, as REALTORS®, want to support. It’s a win/win for them to be able to hold this important St. Paul Side-by-Side event and for SPAAR members to participate in the meal-packing that will ultimately benefit families in our communities.”
In Ramsey and Washington counties alone, 19.7 percent of the population is food insecure, which impacts more than 84,000 people. The St. Paul Side-by-Side event is expected to engage up to 1,000 participants in the St. Paul area to pack 250,000 meals over two consecutive days.
